The idea for Warm Altitude began with those fine white trails left by planes across a clear sky, briefly imposing order on something vast. I was captivated by the geometric patterns they created. Here, cool blue-greys and deep green hold the composition steady, while a tiny red note stops it becoming too serene.

It has a quiet, spacious presence that would work particularly well in a study, thinking space, hallway or calm contemporary living room.

Signal Held

Where the Pulse Waits

Signal Held feels like a moment of communication caught inside a rigid system. Deep blues and dark structural bands create a dense field, while fine silver diagonals seem to carry something across it, briefly cutting through the weight.

It has a concentrated presence and would suit a study, hallway or contemporary living space. The work was painted for Auto Amor and was selected for two of their exhibitions.

Shared Divide

Geometry Under Pressure

Shared Divide holds its ground through geometric compression rather than drama. Cool blue, grey and charcoal planes press against one another, while dark lines keep the composition from slipping entirely out of place. Look longer and earlier marks begin to surface beneath the final arrangement.

It would sit well in a modern living room, study or quieter architectural space where subtle tension can do the work.

Forced Through

No Clean Exit

Forced Through is about pressure without a neat outcome. The dark diagonal holds the composition together, while the curved breach and scratched marks keep pushing against it. Amber-gold cuts through the cooler greys and blacks with just enough heat.

The work is structured, energetic and slightly unsettled, and would sit well in a contemporary living room, study, home office or commercial space.

Tidal Zone

I built the composition of Tidal Zone to be deliberately asymmetrical. The large acid-yellow field has no echo anywhere else in the painting. It intrudes, almost emitting voltage, yet remains fully contained by the grey and black around it.

At 60 × 90 cm it needs room to breathe.

I once had it on loan against a dark magenta wall, where the contrast with the yellow was incredible.

False Warmth

Still Searching

False Warmth by Gera Dunachie, contemporary abstract painting in cool grey and black with layered blush pink and vivid magenta geometric forms.

For me, False Warmth represents the uneasy relationship between warmth and cold structure. Blush and magenta surface within cooler greys and blacks, but never quite take hold, leaving the painting poised between comfort and unease.

Its layered surface rewards slower looking, making it a strong choice for a smaller space such as a reading corner, snug or study, where the detail can unfold gradually.
